Clintonville Area Business Association (CABA) Member Code of Conduct

As a Member of CABA, I/we recognize that membership is a privilege and that a membership brings with it the responsibility to assure that all members understand and commit to the following code of conduct. The code of conduct shall, without limitation, require members and all participants of CABA-sponsored programs to:

  • Abide by the Bylaws of CABA for any applicable programs. The Bylaws serve as the governing document for all programs and will supersede all other documents.
  • Refrain from publicly disparaging the business practices of fellow members and refrain from condoning or engaging in misrepresentation or unethical practices.
  • Conduct business and professional activities in a reputable manner so as to reflect honorably upon the business community and fellow CABA members.
  • Respect the reputation, profile and status of CABA and its staff, and represent CABA accordingly.
  • Be respectful, fair and civil.
  • Speak candidly and truthfully; Do not make false, fictitious, or misleading claims.
  • Avoid all forms of harassment, illegal discrimination, threats or violence.
  • Observe the highest standards of ethics in rendering services and/or offering products for sale, based on the members’ own knowledge and expertise.
  • Refrain from engaging in any practices prohibited by law or seeking unfair advantage over fellow members and conform to all laws established by Municipal, State and Federal governments for the control of said business, where applicable.
  • Present a true presentation in all advertising. Goods and services shall be advertised in accordance with all Municipal, State and Federal legislation.
  • Respect the role of CABA staff.
  • Strive to minimize the negative impacts of their business activities on the environment and society.
  • Address any complaints or disputes with fellow members or CABA in a respectful and constructive manner, seeking resolution through dialogue and mediation whenever possible.
  • Act as good stewards of the Clintonville business community by helping foster a collaborative, welcoming, respectful, and trustworthy environment for fellow members, residents, customers, and partners, and by conducting themselves in a manner that supports the safety, quality of life, and overall well-being of the community.
  • Refrain from conduct that unreasonably disrupts, disturbs, or diminishes the surrounding community, including behavior that creates a public nuisance, interferes with neighboring businesses or residents, or undermines the character and well-being of the Clintonville community.
  • I/we also understand that the failure to adhere to the professional and personal obligations of CABA, as outlined above, and defined in the CABA Bylaws, can result in the termination of my/our membership.

Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy

CABA believes that a policy prohibiting discrimination, harassment or sexual harassment is in the best interests of our organization and our members. For this reason, it will be the policy of CABA to comply with all applicable federal, state and local laws relating to discrimination or harassment. CABA members should remain neutral in matters involving race, gender, age, sexual orientation or sexual identity, political or religious affiliation, and will conduct itself in a manner free of discrimination, harassment or sexual harassment. Members participating in CABA activities that are found to have discriminated against a fellow CABA member or harassed them risk their participation in future CABA events and activities and/or even their membership to CABA.
