Although it has a few hurdles to clear, an Aldi grocery store could be coming to 5455 N. High St. in the near future to serve Clintonville, Worthington and beyond.

The 25,000-square-foot building now is home to the American Heart Association of Central Ohio, which has been located there since 1987. The AHA is still listed as owner of the 2-acre site as Aldi’s seeks approval for a variety of variances company officials said are necessary for the store.

According to plans submitted to the city of Columbus, the current building would be demolished and replaced with a 19,200-square-foot store, 30 feet in height, and parking for 81 vehicles.
